FIELD NOTE 001: Beginning the Equine Journey

Some journeys begin with certainty. This one began with curiosity.

For as long as I can remember, horses have been part of my life. Growing up, they taught me patience, presence, humility and the quiet language of trust but, at the time, in sport.

Today, they continue to teach me…only in new ways

Over the past several months, I’ve been immersed in training and mentorship in

equine-facilitated learning, deepening my understanding of how horses can help people develop greater self-awareness, emotional intelligence, resilience and authentic connection.

This December, I look forward to the process of official certification for riders with disabilities and beginning riders, but what has been most meaningful isn’t the credential, it’s the process.

Every session reminds me that horses don’t ask us to be perfect –

They ask us to be present.

As Ragland Ranch continues to evolve, my hope is to create experiences where people can slow down, reconnect with themselves and discover what becomes possible when we learn alongside these powerful animals.

This is just the beginning, and I’m grateful to be learning from incredible mentors, generous horses and the land that continues to shape this journey.

Stay tuned as more as unfolds…
