Ragland Ranch is a 50 acre regenerative commons in the heart of Oklahoma.
A place where land stewardship, equine experiences, creative practice and community come together.
Part working ranch, part gathering place and part living laboratory, the ranch is rooted in a simple idea: when we pay closer attention to the natural systems around us, we discover new ways to understand relationships with ourselves, each other and the wild.
Life at the ranch follows patterns that are easy to overlook elsewhere.
Horses communicate through awareness rather than words. Grasslands depend on cycles of growth and rest. Healthy soil is built through countless relationships beneath the surface along with our efforts in land stewardship.
Spending time here is an opportunity to observe those patterns and consider what they might teach us about how people, communities, and landscapes thrive.
Horses experience the world differently than we do. As highly social animals, they respond to presence, intention and nonverbal communication in ways that often reveal more than words alone.
Whether through groundwork, equine-facilitated experiences, introductory riding lessons, or adaptive programs for riders with disabilities, our work with horses creates opportunities to explore awareness, trust, communication and confidence. The goal isn’t simply to learn about horses, it’s to better understand ourselves through our relationship with them
Ragland Ranch began in 2008 when David and Judy Ragland purchased 129 acres in Jones, Oklahoma, drawn by the clean country air, healthy soil, abundant water and the opportunity to steward the land for future generations. A 40 year polo player, David envisioned creating a field and gathering place where horses and community could thrive. The family established the OKC polo club while building their home, creating the foundation for what RAGLAND RANCH is today.
Today, their daughter, Nicol Ragland, serves as the ranch’s land steward. An award-winning documentary filmmaker, photographer and equine-facilitated practitioner, Nicol is guiding the ranch’s next chapter, bringing together regenerative land stewardship, horses, storytelling and community. Inspired by nature’s patterns of regeneration, RAGLAND RANCH is becoming a place where people reconnect with the land, horses, themselves and one another.
Every season brings something different.
Whether you’re spending time with the horses, exploring the land, or gathering with others, Ragland Ranch offers opportunities to learn from the quiet rhythms of nature and the relationships that sustain it
